Work to improve Aruba’s public finances is underway

The mature finance minister is preparing to present the start of 2023 note and the 2024 budget, and is preparing for the evaluation of Aruba by the IMF. These days the Minister of Finance is preparing to provide information on Aruba’s public finances. Recently, the mandatory met with the Central Bank, the Department of Finance and the Department of Taxation to review and align some information on the country’s public finances. Minister Maduro will soon present the first Year Starting Note to the Parliament of Aruba so that early in the year the Parliament is made aware of the changes that may be taking place in the policies of the Government that may result in a change in the 2023 Budget. Work is also underway to move the 2024 Budget forward and present it by September 1, 2023. Apart from this, it is important that the Minister of Finance could meet with the relevant authorities to properly prepare for the on-site visit of the IMF for its Article IV evaluation of Aruba which will take place in May. All these tasks require good coordination between the Minister of Finance, the Central Bank and the Departments of Finance and Taxation. In the days ahead Minister Maduro will provide more information on the work done to improve Aruba’s public finances.
