Member of parliament for the Movement for the Future of Curaçao (MFK), David Seferina noted that the prices of food are rising dramatically and that it is becoming almost impossible for people to continue to pay for it.
The MFK faction also noted that the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Economic Development, Minister Cijntje, is singing a song of praise for the path that will lead to the introduction of the basic macutu “smart kart ‘ that will be used for food and basic products to those of less local resources. Subscribers came to the commitment of Minister Cijntje that he would allow research on the selling price of fish so that the people of Curaçao can also pay a fair and affordable price per kilo of fish.
Therefore, by means of this letter and making use of article 96 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, the undersigned wishes to ask the following questions to the Minister of Economic Development Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje
For how long does Minister Cijnte expect the basic model of smart cards to be introduced?
Who will be in charge of the investigation of the sale price of the fish?
Can the quality of food be guaranteed and how can this be guaranteed?
Who will be responsible for the quality of the food?
Will there be any instance for the consumer to complain about the quality of the product?
Can the customer be assured that the quality of the food is acceptable and a price is fair and affordable?
What is the departure point for the minister’s price range per kilo of fish that the minister wants to give to allow an investigation into the price of fish. Reminding your person of the obligation in our state regulation to provide members of parliament with all required information and the obligation in the protocol signed between parliament and government to provide this information no later than within two (2) months, the MFK faction remains awaiting your response.
