The 21st Annual Female Leadership Event since 2004 in Curaçao: ‘Female Leaders Volunteering’, was again a success.
The event took place last Friday with conference starter Victoria Wild who did an invocation written by conference advisor sister Dr. Norma Angel, wishing the participants to celebrate in harmony the successes of the great women present with the support of the men present, going together to the common goal.
The official conference opening was by the island Governor of Sint Eustatius, Alida Francis who spoke about her aunt Christine Flanders. This well-known community leader did not volunteer because she sought fame, recognition, or fortune. She gave freely because she believed in sharing her God-given blessings.
‘Also, we don’t give to our society in anticipation of getting something in return. We don’t volunteer to improve our job prospects or list it on our CV. We do it strictly for love. We do it out of compassion and social responsibility.’
Initiator and organizer Reyna Joe explained the vision of the conferences since 2004. The focus has to stay on women who studied, made a career, and still meet challenges that are opportunities to continue to grow or may have a negative result.
Mar Introini in Madrid, Spain, passionately spoke about ‘When altruism meets professionalism’. Her passion is with the universal G100 group to succeed in getting women from all over the world to unite and serve each other.
Bwalya Mwali in Antwerp, Belgium focused on the journey of empowerment and networking. She spoke about active projects to get people to understand and benefit from volunteering on every level.
Oonagh Justina from Curaçao spoke about ‘Self-volunteering with good self-esteem and body image’, and focused on the importance of having a good self-image, and in whatever you do
remember to give yourself the attention you would do if you were volunteering to help someone else.
Jacqueline Kwidama from Curaçao spoke about ‘Embracing the Impossible and Service to Humanity’ emphasizing that whatever happens, one must use challenges to continue to grow while servicing your community.
This event was energized at the beginning and the end by mover Monielle Hous who brought and kept a vibrant empowering energy among participants.
The organizers are grateful for every support received in realizing this awesome empowering event. They are convinced that this experience again motivated some great women to go for what is best for them while serving in their communities.
