The Construction Companies Registry Foundation (RCC) elaborated on the importance of combating the informal economy during an event organized and held on September 20, at the ATIA office. The informal economy is responsible for economic activities that simply say do not comply with existing laws in full.
The prices of products and services offered by assets in the informal sector are often lower, taking into account that the costs of all the requirements of a business should not be taken into account. Compare with Traders who if they comply according to the stipulated laws, this is classified as unfair competition. The Foundation Register of Construction companies (RCC) is supported by the Aruba Trade and Industry Organization (ATIA).
RCC’s mission is to create a network of safe, fair and responsible companies in the construction sector in Aruba. The Foundation wants to encourage construction companies to be responsible for
Its employees, comply with all existing laws and obligations and thus also contribute to the Huelva economy. To achieve this, the Foundation created the RCC-label, a certification seal for construction companies. Construction companies that are members of the Foundation will receive an RCC label, certifying that they comply with stipulated standards and are considered a responsible company.
The creation of the RCC label demonstrates how a sector itself can take the initiative to encourage businesses to operate transparently and thus comply with all requirements. It not only creates trust close to the consumer, but also its own workers, government and financial institutes. Moreover, it stimulates and contributes to a level playing field in the industry. Creating a level playing field – fair competition – is an important management objective according to Minister Geoffrey Wever.
Every trader should be able to be sure that his competitor also meets all the requirements that the law requires, and it is not “cutting corners” to create an artificial advantage. Therefore there can only be fair competition. Minister Geoffrey Wever thanks, applauds and supports the Construction Companies Register Foundation for its initiatives. The RCC label will benefit the construction sector, stimulating consumer protection and having companies more cautious of their operating practices whose doors are dubious.
