The project of reorganization of the departments was stopped to begin the restructuring of the government apparatus

Minister Evelyn Wever Croes

Reorganization in government departments began a few years ago, some departments that the government started to improve services but stopped. Prime Minister Evelyn Wever Croes acknowledges that some of the departments that the government has prioritized for reorganization have not done everything given that each department takes its time and has to go through different processes.

Which is one of the departments that went through a major reorganization, but actually made a decision in the council of ministers that in the next 9 months there will be no reorganization.

According to Prime Minister Evelyn Wevert Croes this is because DHR is working on a very crucial project at the moment which is the project of restructuring the government apparatus. You’ve heard of kernetakeanalysis in the past where you can roughly compare this. According to Prime Minister Evelyn Wever Croes, he learned from all the mistakes of the past that were not implemented to now do something that is loaded and implemented.

In the next nine months, the focus will be on what tasks a government should do and whether the government is doing them. According to the Prime Minister there are tasks that are done but they are not government tasks and this is the way to make decisions and let others do the work. At the same time, there are tasks that the government should be doing and is not doing, for example monitoring compliance and those are things that need to be done and for this very reason DHR and other departments and the Netherlands should work on restructuring.

According to Prime Minister Evelyn Wever Croes, after 9 months there will be a proposal from the commission in which direction they believe the government should go in order to do the tasks that an Aruba government should do.

The moment you get to the point of what all the tasks are that the government has to do, the moment you come to the conclusion that a department should be more visible on the street, for example DIP should see if the citizens are complying or if there are people who have made a pact many years ago and never built on it, then the steps have to start taking place where the pact will fail and for someone else to find it looking at all the years that they haven’t worked on it and standing up to each other if it’s safe to build on it.

There are also tasks that have been structured where they have been made less efficient, some people have been left without jobs because the work has become simpler, but this group has been put in place to give more control and thus bring more money into the government’s coffers.

According to the Prime Minister, after this part he can be confident that he will be able to say how the reorganization will proceed. Some departments have already started with reorganization and they will be finalized, but he said that there will be no new reorganization to wait until the restructuring project is ready and it is also presented to the community what the results are and so the community of Aruba itself will see how it goes.
