The Netherlands does not want to help Aruba at all and wants to impose RAFT

Hulanda No Kier Yuda Aruba Cu Nada Y Kier Impone Raft Riba E Pais

The negotiations with the Netherlands attracted a lot of attention, such as Miguel Mansur who spoke about Aruba’s interest in losing the opportunities to make investments. According to the President of Parliament, these points are not true. Populist politics plays a role here in such expressions.

In the current form of the RAFT, there is no way to prevent Aruba from receiving interest, since Curaçao is in the RAFT and Curaçao received a full discharge on the day it became a member, thereby making all debts of Curaçao zero, and Aruba does not, but wants to put the RAFT on Aruba.

The Netherlands wants to give Aruba a RAFT but at the same time they don’t want to give Aruba a pardon or anything in return and they don’t want to help Aruba. From the Dutch point of view, Aruba has to accept and pay for the RAFT and this is the way the current government does not want to do it and does not agree to this deal with the Netherlands.

One of the amendments is a constitutional amendment which cannot be passed without a two-thirds majority in parliament. The Netherlands is now demanding things that will break Aruba as a country. Everything indicates that the Dutch are disloyal and want to break Aruba to perform in Aruba.

With the RAFT Aruba will decide how it should be carried out and the Netherlands wants Aruba to carry it out. However, this is the way in which parliament plays a role and if parliament votes for the RAFT then the Tweedekamer in the Netherlands comes to take the decision on Aruba, then parliament has nothing more to say.

If the RAFT is accepted, it should be incorporated into the constitution. But Aruba is not united, politically Aruba is divided and when it comes to this constitutional change, there are 11 who support Aruba, but it will not work because the other 10 members of parliament from the opposition say that they will not give in to these changes. If this happens, Aruba will be put in a situation where Aruba will be given a KB and will not be able to escape.

It is a reality that Aruba is politically immature to bring about such a change. According to Parliament’s President Edgar Vrolijk, this is one of the themes this party has always fought for, but populist politicians are making history by misinforming the people. Instead of coming together as politicians to help Aruba move forward and keep us in the same house, opposition politicians are playing politics with the situation where tomorrow they themselves are in danger and cannot really work for the people of Aruba.
