The Caribbean Coast Guard’s Maritime Operations Center (MOC) received a request from MRCC from Fort de France in Martinique for assistance in the search for a group of people at sea. The nine people were detained between St. Lucia and Martinique with their boat disappeared.
At the request of Martinique, the MOC dispatched the Coast Guard Dash aircraft to the area to begin a search. In the search, the Dash first saw two people swimming. During the search of the’search box’ the coast guard aircraft found six people holding the boat. According to the coordinators, the six people were rescued by a rescue boat from Martinique and arrived safely on land. Meanwhile, another person is still missing and authorities in Martinique and a Coast Guard plane are continuing the search today. During the search, the last body was found in the sea. The Coast Guard wishes the family and friends of the deceased all the best.
