The Kiwanis Club of Kralendijk Buenos Aires celebrated the installation of its new board for the 2023-2024 academic year with a Seine in Le Jardin (The Garden of Love). The club is part of Kiwanis International, a global organization of volunteers committed to making the world a better place, a child and a community simultaneously.
The evening started with outgoing President Derchlien dijkhof looking back on Accomplished Projects such as packages for beibi and K-walk. Dijkhof called thanks to all the members for their efforts and to the outgoing board of directors for their hard work during his presidency. After this, five members, Zelmi Canbazoglu, Marilijne Kats, Emily Kocks, paola Pourier and Mimi Dongen, received a special recognition for their K -mazing effort during the past Kiwanistic year.
The members of the new board were installed by former President Ricard Nicholson. The new board is composed of President Mimi Dongen, Secretary Arianne Frans-Tromp, Treasurer Marco van Zuijlichem, Member Director Lisete Martines, Community Services Director Alicia Xuan-Krijgsman, Fundraising Director Debby Rauwers, PR Director Michealine Cathlin and SLP Advisor Emily Kocks.
Lieutenant Governor Shelly-Anne Mcpherson addressed a heartfelt speech to the new board and thanked them for their commitment to helping the children of Buenos Aires. Next, 2 new members Nicole Dorothea and Enovita Boekhoudt were installed by the President Mimi Dongen.
The evening continued with the club’s fifth anniversary celebrations. The first board of the club received a gift on behalf of all the members. The first board was composed of Patricia Gerritzen-veen, Derchlien dijkhof and Ricard Nicholson. There was also a number five piñata that was broken by the founding members. Later, the club would announce an event to celebrate this five-year anniversary with the Buenos Aires community.
President Mimi Dongen honored two members of the club, Derchlien Dijkhof and Ricard Nicholson, in her first speech. He ended his speech by emphasizing the importance of the club’s participation in the Buenos Aires community.
