The CBA regrets recent erroneous reporting in the Dutch media about the Ennia Aruba entities

Cba Ta Lamenta E Reportahenan Eroneo Recientemente Den E Medionan Hulandes Tocante E Entidadnan Di Ennia Aruba

The Central Bank of Aruba (CBA) has taken note of reports recently published in the Financieele Dagblad and the NRC related to Ennia and strongly regrets that it is incorrectly suggested that the Ennia Aruba entities are in trouble and that Aruba must borrow from the Dutch government in order to protect the policyholders of the Ennia Aruba entities.

The letter dated 25 August 2023 from state secretary A. van Huffelen to the House of Representatives shows sufficiently that the Ennia problem does not relate to Aruba and the Ennia Aruba entities. It is highly reprehensible that the authors of the articles in question did not bother to take note of the contents of the letter in question.

Although the CBA cannot provide information about Ennia Aruba on the basis of its duty of confidentiality, it attaches great importance to informing the public that the Ennia Aruba entities are healthy, including the annual accounts for 2022 published on the Ennia Aruba website and certified by an audit firm. Ennia Aruba is part of the Ennia group, but the Ennia Aruba entities are solvent and profitable and comply with all prudential requirements as imposed by law and the CBA.

Furthermore, it is noted that what happened in Curaçao with the Ennia entities there could not happen in Aruba. The CBA is a strict regulator and does not tolerate. In the event of serious violations of laws and regulations, immediate enforcement and intervention is carried out. Already in 2007, the CBA decided, due to identified transactions with related parties and the failure of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS), that the Aruban branches had to be privatized. This gave these entities their own capital and governance and they have been under the direct and strict supervision of the CBA ever since.

In summary, it is very regrettable and deplorable that Aruba and the Ennia Aruba entities are completely wrongly involved in relevant reports in the mentioned Dutch newspapers.
