Recently the Aruban swimming team left for Netanya Israel, to participate in the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships that will take place from 4-9 September 2023. Counting with the participation of more than 600 athletes from over 100 national federations, our little island will also be represented by athletes Braynsley Dirksz and Gavin Kock, under the guidance of head coach, Ismael Santiesteban.
The competition will take place at the Wingate Institution, a purpose-built facility to host world-class international events. The facility, the Israel National Center for Physical Education and Sport, features a 50-meter competition pool and a 50-meter training pool. During the week of September 4-9, athletes Braynsley Dirksz and Gavin Kock will participate in various events. The young athlete Dirksz will participate in a total of 7 events, including the 50-, 100-, and 200-meter Freestyle events, the 50-, 100- and 200-meter Breaststroke event and finally the 200-meter Individual Medley (IM) event. As for the young athlete Kock, he will be participating in 6 events, including the 50- and 100-meter Freestyle, 50-, 100- and 200-meter Breaststroke events and will also compete in the 200-meter Individual Medley (IM) event.
The competition began this morning, with the time difference, 4:06 AM for both Braynsley and Gavin. Both athletes participated in their first event, the 100-meter Breaststroke.
