Friday, 8 September 2023 Bonaire is officially a richer residential area.
In the presence of authorities, guests and press, the management of “Suikerpalm” opened the “Suikerpalm” allotment plan. This project, which once started with nothing more than a large plot of land with minimal vegetation and a vision, is now a reality of more than 100 lots, which the entire community can be proud of. Thanks to thoughtful design choices and the application of other materials and methods, the district already has a unique appearance.
The entire road network consists of clinkers, with solar street lighting- Energy has been chosen for a sustainable solution. On the edges of sugar palm are green areas and two recreational plots with play equipment have been realized in the district. In addition, there are more than forty native trees planned that provide shade and a green view. Finally two hiking trails connect the neighborhood with La Palma, connecting the communities. Sugar palm offers lots of different sizes, making it accessible to a wide audience.
The realization of sugar palm has been made possible thanks to an excellent collaboration of many parties, from Sunbelt Realty and CEC to legal advisors, the Land Registry and suppliers such as WEB, Telbo and Flamingo TV. Crucial for the realization was the support of the public body Bonaire (OLB) and the Department of Space and Development (R&o). This project shows that innovation and sustainability combined with excellent collaboration between all parties involved is very possible in development projects on Bonaire. We already look forward to future developments, including an ecological resort on the east of Lima and a collaboration with FCB to realize affordable housing, as agreed in the housing deal between OLB and BZK. Wonderful projects in the pipeline that contribute to prosperity and well-being of all Bonairians.
