On Wednesday afternoon, the National Days Celebration Commission, the Ministry of Culture and the National Library organized a workshop for children to learn to fly. The aim of the workshop is to motivate our children to continue with the beautiful tradition of fly lifting that the Ministry of Culture wants to continue supporting.
The workshop was well attended with 55 young people having a demonstration of how to make their own tea. The tire was given to Mr. Julio Werleman who has been working in film for over 50 years. Together with her assistant Mrs. Jarianne Dijkhoff, they made sure to introduce the tire and give the children all the information about how the tire works.
From Friday 21 April all the films produced will be on display at the National Library in George Madurostraat, during public service hours. The exhibition will run until April 25. After this date the children are hungry to go up to the King’s Day.
A special thanks goes to the soldiers. Astrid Britten, director of the National Library of Aruba, as well as library staff. Glenda Zavala to coordinate the workshop. Thank you, sir. Julio Werleman, also his assistant, taught the children how to work the fleece and also told the children a bit about the tradition of lifting the fleece.
At the end of the seminar the Minister of Culture. Xiomara Maduro with the director of the National Library Astrid Britten presented certificates to all the children who participated.
