SER advices on stimulating access to affordable housing for all

On Thursday, September 21, Minister Geoffrey Wever received a visit from the Social-Economic Council. During this visit, the Social-Economic Council presented its advice on how to stimulate access to adequate, safe and affordable housing for all. 

This advice is the result of a request by Minister Geoffrey Wever to the SER on what kind of policies can be implemented to guarantee that each citizen can have access to adequate, safe and affordable housing.

Guarantee access to adequate, safe and affordable housing, Sustainable Development Goal 11, is a necessary condition for sustainable development. Sustainable development is an inclusive society in which every person can participate and achieve his goals. Each local should have his own house.

In SER advice various recommendations are made to stimulate access to adequate, safe and affordable housing for all citizens. SER recommends among others to do more research on the need of the current and future generations, stimulate sustainable construction and expand the work of the Rental Commission.

Minister Geoffrey Wever thanks SER for the advice, will certainly give one contributions to help develop and implement policies that guarantee that each Citizen on Aruba has access to his own home, a suitable, safe and affordable home.
