It is no secret that in 2015 the AVP government came up with the project of trams for Aruba. This project cost Aruba a lot of money and sacrificed Aruba’s education, where they chose not to build a MAVO/HAVO to come up with the famous tramp project that yields nothing for Aruba, this is definitely one of the bad decisions of the AVP government.
The tram cost all of us who live on this little island of Aruba 44 million guilders. Mike Eman’s cabinet came up with trams that have so far yielded no results or access to Arubus. Trams are specifically designed to transport people from one destination to another, but in large countries it is an ideal concept.
Here in Aruba, a tram ride that costs Aruba more than 40 million florins is a distance from the station to the city center where the tourist can walk in a few minutes and enjoy the other shops of Aruba that sell Aruba products.
Apart from the idea of travel for free in the tram, which does not generate a single guilder for Aruba, but takes it out of the pockets of the people of Aruba, today more than ever, the tram in Aruba is a project that does not deserve to exist.
In addition to this whole bad decision to come up with an idea that doesn’t fit Aruba, the famous Arutram department has put Arubus under control, thereby increasing Arubus’ costs and putting the department in a delicate situation. Minister Ursell Arends recently announced prices for parking that take money out of people’s wallets, but he hasn’t fixed anything that’s wrong in house itself.
Paying for parking in Aruba is good in itself, but considering there are no better and larger parking spaces to pay for, Aruba doesn’t have a lot of parking and years ago there was talk about creating different parking lots to get options at different points of the street, so far no progress has been seen, but if you want the population to pay, you first need to make sure there is an area and space to make parking available in Aruba.
The excuse is always that there is no money, but what has been done internally to have the budget to build these parking lots? One option that will certainly generate a good income is the sale of these trams which are essential for their port and without generating a penny for Aruba.
In principle, it can be said that Minister Ursell Arends is not trading with his heart for the people of Aruba, since even a blind person can see that when an object does not work for you and is in good condition the option is to sell it. The sale of the Arupark trams brings a considerable amount into its budget which can alleviate the pressure and delicate situation in Arubus.
But what does the Minister have to say, what is the connection to the bad decisions that the AVP government has taken in the past to correct this? Is it true that Minister Ursell Arends stands with the people of Aruba in administering a department well so that the government receives the revenue properly? What is the reason for the government’s increasing desire to be in the hands of business? Just like in Serlimar. There are strong indications that Minister Ursell Arens is playing both sides and it is certainly something dangerous for the people of Aruba, one day they want to be meat but other times they are fish, these are developments that are going on in most of Minister Ursell Arends’ departments. In this whole process, it is the people of Aruba who are being harmed and justice is not being served.
