Raymond Misha from the IPKO/Netherlands Delegation Ombudsman found out that many Caribbean students in the Netherlands suffer from loneliness, depression and even anxiety

Aruba’s delegation is in the Netherlands for IPKO meetings yet. We at EA News were able to talk to Misha Raymond where she elaborates with us on the meetings that the delegation and her person participated in. Misha Raymond is from the RIAZ faction, but in the Netherlands for the meetings of IPKO she is part of the delegation of Aruba and represents the flag of Aruba in the Netherlands in a group of other parliamentarians from other parties who also form the delegation that is currently representing Aruba in the Netherlands as a delegation to the meetings of IPKO for Aruba.

Misha Raymond acknowledges that there are several meetings but one that has attracted a lot of attention is the follow-up of the ombudsman’s report meeting on what are the concerns of Caribbean students in the Netherlands when they decide to study, in order to make the process of their studies easier for them in the Netherlands for example when they arrive in the Netherlands without a BSN number, the difficulty of falling into the care system, where they can also make use of zortoeslage are points that the Ombudsman came up with and brought an update on the whole investigation under students from Caribbean islands.

However, it also touched on the mental health of students in the Netherlands and found that many of them fall into loneliness, depression and even anxiety. But what this report also illustrates is that it didn’t really go deep into these topics, but that was also to be expected, according to Misha Ramond of Aruba’s delegation to IPKO Netherlands.

Seeing that the specific topics of young people in the Netherlands were not discussed, MP Misha Raymond decided to stay in the Netherlands for a few days at her own expense so that she could have some meetings with some young people in the Netherlands to talk about mental health and how it affected them after they came from Aruba. According to MP Misha Raymond he will sit with some students after IPKO meetings.
