During her visit to New York to attend the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly #UNGA78 Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes met with a woman on the important issue of the position of women. During this meeting, the “gender policy” was discussed and how to strengthen the position of the female self.
Aruba, in the middle of last year, launched the “National Gender Policy of Aruba” which has a framework to monitor and evaluate the implementation process, to achieve the goal more effectively and motivate and empower one and all to promote gender equality. Also came forward, the initiative launched by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hanke Bruins Slot, which talks about the “Feminist Foreign Policy”. This “policy” is a foreign relations policy, where the Kingdom of the Netherlands has committed not to do business with countries that do not respect the position of women. The starting point of the “women’s foreign policy” is that women should be able to claim their universal rights and should be represented at all levels, and if a country does not respect it, the Kingdom of the Netherlands will not be able to have contact or foreign relations with them.
“I must say that these meetings have been positive and extremely interesting. The energy of all those present to continue working in favor and for the right of the feminine being, was very appreciated. For countries that still do not value women’s rights, it will have to be worked on internally before it can be possible to work on a “Feminist Foreign Policy,” the Prime Minister said.
