Aruba, in conjunction with the Netherlands, is hosting the first Caribbean Climate & Energy Conference (CCEC) which will take place from 10-12 May 2023 in Aruba. Given the vulnerability of small islands to climate change, and the negative effects that are already being experienced, Aruba and the Netherlands saw the need to promote cooperation in climate action among small islands worldwide, organizing for the first time a direct conference on this topic.

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Aruba, Evelyn Wever-Croes, and the Minister of Climate and Energy of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, representatives of different countries and organizations will meet in Aruba during this date. The conference will be attended by representatives of Caribbean island regions, relevant parties such as Pacific island states, United Nations organizations, knowledge institutes and financial institutions.

The first day of the conference will focus on the climate and energy transition in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and will discuss the points needed, in terms of cooperation, to achieve the Paris 2030 climate goals.

The second day of the conference will consist of an international orientation. This will be followed by a broad panel of countries and organizations to discuss the climate action needed for every island in the world. The main goal is to create more awareness about the type of climate action on the islands and how effective the cooperation between the islands is.

The final day will focus on development in Aruba for the energy and climate transition. There will be several presentations on ongoing developments, and opportunities to talk about where Aruba stands now and where Aruba will contribute in the areas of climate and energy transition in the future. During these days, the participants will visit various climate and energy projects in Aruba.
