Parliamentary member mr. drs. Mervin Wyatt-Ras (AVP) Cabinet Wever-Croes II wants to continue studying while our grandparents suffer

A parliamentarian from the faction of the Aruban People’s Party AVP and a professional from the social work sector, namely Mr. drs. Mervin Wyatt-Ras believes the Wever-Croes II Cabinet had more than enough opportunity to address the staffing situation at SABA, the institution that provides care for our seniors.

In addition to taking all the time to allow studies, the ministry officially did not want to share the corresponding reports with Parliament. However, the AVP faction put pressure and managed to find their way to the conclusion that the employees should be paid. It’s a process that has become time consuming.

It is unacceptable, according to Wyatt-Ras, for the mandatories to continue to hide behind information and arguments that now want to come up with another policy because it is a portfolio in itself. The sector has existed for a long time already and AVP regulated it in 2017 through a department which opened up the possibility of doing more. However, the Wever-Croes II Cabinet chooses to attack an entity that for years has provided the optimal service of a shelter for our seniors.

Wyatt-Ras: It’s like there’s a war with them. It’s a cycle that instead of going forward, goes backward. Want to spend all the time in the world studying. This government wants to study, study and study instead of executing and making an impact for our community.

The parliamentarian stands firm that our great ones deserve better from this government. MEPs promised heaven and earth; even lowering retirement age. Seven years have not yet passed and now the work of others is being measured against our most vulnerable and helpless people. There is no cure for the citizens. That’s why the AVP as an opposition is at the forefront of their rights, as Wyatt-Ras declared this week, showing that he doesn’t sleep on any of the problems facing our country.
