National Library of Aruba with busy weekend

Biblioteca Nacional Aruba

On 23rd of September was a day full of celebrations and activities for the National Library of Aruba. Talking with the Director of the NLA Mrs. Astrid Britten we were able to find out the thoughts of the BNA in the activities, not only for the International Day of People with Hearing impairments, but also the Hungateca and many more.

Mrs. Astrid Bitten explained about the different activities that were carried out this weekend at the NLA and extended how happy the NLA is to be the host of these different activities.

This weekend the NLA was able to count on a series of activities such as the presentation of the book “Dove kinderen op Suriname” that reflected again on the time when Aruba had to send children with hearing impairments to Suriname, so that they could continue with their studies since this was not possible in Aruba. It was also named how proud they are to have someone who also has a hearing impairment who has experienced it working along with the NLA.

It was also reflected about the SDGs that today it is 8 years since they were started to leave anyone out, with this the NLA feels good to have a connection with this and also in its way to fortify them.

The Library is also happy to be the headquarters for Hungateca, which is carrying out various activities on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in its locality, where on this Saturdays there was also a puppet show.

The National Library of Aruba also now has the opportunity to provide French lessons for our community, if your person is interested in learning French now this is also possible at the NLA.

Finally, the NLA invites Aruba to participate in different of its activities that they can offer, including the expo: The Lens of my Eyes that still remains open until the end of September as next September 29th will be the day when Tele Aruba will reach 6 decades in the media and telecommunications in Aruba.
