Luicia Hoek, activity coordinator at the Kibrahacha 60+ centre, talks about their activities during the summer camp. Just like schools close, foundations close, and that’s because a lot of the volunteers go on vacation and the foundations focus more on the volunteer.
However, there are members who want to keep coming to the broken center and for this reason a summer camp has been opened that started on July 10 and ended today, but to end the end of the summer camp it has been decided to close this season with a certificate that will be given to everyone who participated in this summer camp.
A joint lunch with all participants was also held before the end of this part. Luicia Hoek says that during the summer camp she did various activities, such as driving around in the bus around the local villages that our grandparents loved and visiting different parts of Aruba.
But inside the center itself, the members also did various activities during the four weeks they spent painting on canvas, making surprise boxes for everyone who, when they opened the box and found what was inside, had to make a delicious meal and show their talent in the kitchen.
Also, throughout the garden of Kibrahacha, various places were sought where the elders could look for various things. They also had to tell the names of the trees in the garden. This time there were not many members because many of them had no transportation.
A decision has already been taken to plan better for the next year and to prepare the pupils who took part this year, given that the pupils who took part in the summer camp took part in such an event for the first time and that all the experience gained for the next year has a broader idea to continue the summer camp during the holidays.
On August 14, the kibrahacha center will be open again and all members will come, but also the inhabitants of Aruba are invited if there is a neighbor, mother, father or brother who is 60+ to tell them a little about the kibrahacha center or take them for a day to get to know the center and spend a good time with the other members.
