Member of parliament Misha Raymond: Logopedia is not just about speech development

Member of parliament Misha Raymond is extremely pleased with the Logopedia law that has been established. The road to achieving this law began before she became parliamentarian. Misha Raymond has been working as a Child and Adolescent Psychologist for more than 10 years and in her daily work she sees many challenges not only psychological, but also for the development of children and adolescents.

According to RAIZ parliamentarian Misha Raymond, one of the biggest challenges was the development of speech, not only for children with autism or ADHD who do not have enough skills to learn the language or the rules of the language, but also for children with great potential with good intelligence, because they have a delay in their speech they cannot continue to develop.

To ensure that the law on logopedia remains a part of the coverage, is one of the goals of the campaign and is also one of the reasons for entering parliament to bring a solution and make changes in this area. From the first day of her entry into parliament, the AZV law has been analyzed and everything has been checked for the logopedia part.

What was discovered was that the AZV plus law included speech therapy with up to 12 sections, but if you want to include speech therapy in the basic package the government would have to give the go-ahead for it to be included in the basic package. So Misha Raymond started to work on it and thought it would be easy, but the reality was different.

He waited 20 months for the speech therapy law to take effect and then moved on. It was possible to send several letters to the ministers to see the interest and also to push for the law to be passed urgently but also properly. After several failed attempts, on July 5th the BBO law was reviewed and it was decided to take a stand to hear the urgency of this law to address the problems facing the community.

For Misha Raymond this achievement is very important considering that the law already stipulates many points that are dictated in the law of logopedia of AZV plus, so they did not come with many points or changes in the new concept, but what is new is the price that is the contribution of AZV and the contribution of the citizen.

The previous price was 58 florins, but this time there are discussions with the speech therapists to see what price can be agreed on considering that the price is very old, but at the same time keep in mind that the own contribution by the citizen will not have to be raised either. These days there are various meetings going on with speech therapists to bring the collection together at a reasonable price.

The law also sets out when a speech therapist may be available and when not. What is added to the law is the share of citizens who cannot bear the 10% own contribution. This group may appeal for help from the amount stipulated to receive the help of a speech therapist. However, the reality is that the group that needs it the most are single mothers or families who don’t have the means to access this type of therapy, but they have other kinds of concerns that can take over. If an agreement can be reached that this group can reach an agreement or receive this service without them having to pay it would be very nice to help the children who can get their treatment.

Many people think that speech therapy is about the development of speech, however the challenge is when the child is two years old and they have to learn to speak where they start to make sounds and start to say mom, dad, water all trying to get out and so the child starts to learn to speak so they can communicate and so they can be included in social life. Speech therapy helps children develop their own thoughts and feelings and not just the language or their speech, but it also helps them develop their identity where it also helps them formulate their emotions and thus formulate who they are, but also how they present themselves in a social context. For MP Misha Raymond this achievement is extremely important for the children and it is certainly something that he has worked for so that our children who need this help can receive it and develop in the best way in our society.
