Recently DIMP made a presentation in the Parliament of Aruba on the topic of BBO at the border. After the presentation, Parliamentary colleagues asked several questions and all were answered. In the end, all the concerns of colleagues were answered and they could understand that the BBO at this border does not really make a difference in price and cost for the trader or the citizen. Unfortunately, we have seen how the AVP faction has gone out of their way to call out all the businessmen for lying, DIMP for lying and the government for lying on this issue. Who said that? Sir, Benny Sevinger, MP and former minister convicted of bribery and embezzlement. Who will believe? United Merchants, Department of Taxation, Mr. Miguel Mansur who declared that BBO at the border is good for Aruba or a parliamentarian convicted of bribery and corruption? In this article, I will summarize some of the points that DIMP made in their presentation and press interview on BBO at the border.
What are the benefits to trade and countries
DIMP stressed that there will be no increase in product prices. Instead of giving you the last penny, he will give you the first penny. However, this prepaid BBO can be removed from their windows immediately within the month. This means that the merchant is not stuck with a financial hole but is resolved immediately, because this new law facilitates it. This provision of the law ensures that the costs of the dealer do not increase.
Traders have complained about the BBO at the border and are in agreement with it. United Traders voiced this through Mr. Retirement at a press conference in November 2022.
BBO aan de grens addresses the problem of unfair competition created by illegal traders against legal trade. Legally traded goods pay off, but illegal ones don’t. Pesey, BBO’s main entry at the border will come from illegal businesses that do not contribute to BBO and Aruba’s economy. Pesey Merchants United agrees with the BBO at the border because now the illegal trader has to raise the price because he also has to pay it now. For this reason, the BBO at the border creates a level playing field for trade in general. What does this mean? Now all legal and illegal traders have the same costs and their prices will be similar.
The 40 million florins that BBO will generate at the border will come mostly from illegal businesses. However, because they are illegal, they will not be able to transport BBO across this border as legitimate businesses. This would encourage illegal businesses to register and legalize themselves in the system and thus contribute as they should to the economy of our country.
We could see that AVP came out with several lies about the BBO at the border. A faction that was categorized by their own parliamentary colleague Ryçond Santos do Nascimento as corrupt and lying. A faction and green party that operates under a culture of cowardice and an exceptional degree of corruption to try to achieve their goals using any false arguments they can find. It is ironic that the very people who daily shouted that Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes is a great liar turned out to be the greatest liars of this century. The truth never sleeps, the truth always comes out!
