On Monday morning, the parliamentarian and former energy minister was also in front of the ELMAR N.V. office to support a group of citizens who have demonstrated their discontent with the fact that the Wever-Croes II Cabinet wants to withdraw 15 million florins from utility companies. This is unacceptable for the De Meza, as the increase in water and electricity tariffs since last year has made the cost of living unaffordable for the people.

On the back of the humble citizen the utility companies found an additional income of more than 100 million florins.

The parliamentarian began by confirming in more detail what his colleague and party leader, mr. Mike Eman mentioned earlier, that between 2001 and 2009, the MEP’s government withdrew millions from the utility companies, creating a financial instability that endangered their existence.

Thus, during the Oduber Cabinet III and IV, the MEP government took 252 million florins from WEB and ELMAR. For Mike de Meza “It is incomprehensible that today again the same MEP party, but now under the leadership of Evelyn Wever-Croes, is again targeting these companies. The people are weary, and cry out they can’t stand anymore.

If you look at the price of gasoline and diesel, this government has already taken almost 100 million additional florins from excise tax and BBO, in less than 7 years. When the AVP was in power, they didn’t even touch the tax and even reduce the BBO.

As MEPs came to power, the tax was increased by 10 cents and the BBO was doubled. The professional engineer explained that taking into account that WEB also introduced the Recip engines

Additionally, this represents a saving in fuel consumption of almost 1000 barrels less per day, equivalent to another 40 million florins less expenditure. Rather, he punishes the humble people by means of the present Government.

And to this day there is no reduction in the cost of living. This is an unacceptable abuse of the cabinet, Evelyn Wever-Croes” de Meza expressed as citizens around her shouted that this money is going into the pockets of the currenr ministers.

In conclusion, party colleague Mike Eman indicated that many of the mad citizens who showed up at Elmar on Monday morning showed their water and electricity receipts, noting that some are elderly and that in these hot days and because of fragile health they have no other option than to make a high electricity consumption to put the air, while in anxiety, because they know that later they will have to pay a heavy bill.
