Maria College Mavo and Empire Carnival Group crowned her Mrs. Carnival 70°

The coronation of the teacher took place in ‘Mi Dushi Casibari’ in the atmosphere of the music band Level Up and Songo Music. Teacher Susette will represent Maria College and Empire Carnival Group at Carnival 70.

After a few years Maria College expanded our Carnival again, this time partnering with the Empire Carnival Group to make it happen. The idea for Maria College to participate again in the Aruba Carnival was born during the preparation for the school ‘jump-up’ last February, and on the morning of the jump the director of Maria College Mavo announced it to his team of classmates. Teacher Susette Wernet-Besselink is the representative of Maria College as Mrs. Carnival.

Teacher Susette is well known among (former) students and parents, as she has been the secretary of Maria College since 1999. She was also a former student of Maria College and always with a lot of patience and a smile on her face. Ella susette is ready to help her school and motivate a colleague, student or parent when needed. In 2018, the number of young people in the state increased by 1. Ella Susette created the “Get Fit Team”, where different colleagues and acquaintances come together to walk in nature, participate in sporting and social events or do personal fitness.

Since she was little, Susette has always loved carnival and she participated in various carnival events together with her aunt Shi Preke, who is undoubtedly the first lady of Aruba Carnival. Susette was part of the Maria College team that helped prepare our former student Maria Wouter who in 2018 competed for Youth Carnival Queen 64 and won the title.

This time also the Fundraising Commission has started to raise funds for the preparations of the next elections for the carnival. On September 3, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the first fundraiser will be held at the Bario Brasil Cultural Fair Center, where there will be a tent selling soup, bread with cherries, kale, and sweets.
