In the month of December 2022, the Ministry of economic development (meo) together with Minister Ruisandro Cijntje announced the decision to temporarily reintroduce the “macutu basic 2022” enclosure. This has happened, as part of the efforts to, in conjunction with the supporters in the supermarket and minimarket chain, come up with a system by which all people in our community can have free and fair access to groceries and vital products.
Seeing that the talks are still being carried out on the efficiency and effectiveness of the basic “macutu” and the possibilities of possible alternatives, MEO together with the surveyed parties came to the decision to extend the 2022 “basic macutu” venue again with one (1) year.
After reintroducing the “basic macutu” area 2022 in the month of December last year, Minister Cijntje instituted a “task force” in charge of carrying out an investigation that would have to conclude if perhaps the basic “macutu” area as it is currently is effective enough or if adaptations should appear in this or perhaps completely another alternative. Based on the conclusions of the “task force”, the supporters have already sat down at the table and are practically approaching a concrete word on how it will be followed. This means that, if by any chance the conclusions of the “task force” are achieved before the period of one (1) year ago, the MEO and the minister Cijntje will announce possible changes in the field earlier.
The ministerial enclosure in which the “basic macutu” 2012 was reintroduced, includes among other products such as rings, milk, bread and some fruits and vegetables. The entire site is available on government websites.cw for one and everyone who wants to look at it.
