Aruba On Thursday evening, May 4, 2023, the Kiwanis Club of Palm Beach, under the leadership of President Daniel Aguirre, held its annual meeting, the most important meeting of the year, in a warm atmosphere of brotherhood and fellowship, in which no fewer than 38 members attended.
In compliance with the bylaws of Kiwanis International and the club itself, the agenda consisted of four (4) items: 1) The approval of the new Bylaws (articles of Association) in compliance with the new Civil Code; 2) Approval of the members who will sign the act of Association mentioned as the main witnesses; 3) Submission and approval of the review process of the annual accounts for the Kiwanis year 2020-2021; and 4) Approval of the nominees who will conform the directive for the Kiwanis year 2023-2024 and which will be installed next October.
The approval of the new statute is a very important initiative for the club, as this process guarantees compliance with the new law introduced with the new Civil Code that was introduced in January 2021. With this, the Kiwanis Club of Palm Beach will be officially registered with the Chamber of Commerce as well as the Department of Taxation, a process that ensures an additional level of transparency for the community, but especially by meeting a requirement of the instances, especially businesses, that are contributors and contributors to the Kiwanis Club of Palm Beach.
The approval of the annual financial accounts is an important moment in which the administration and finances of the Club are verified in accordance with professional accounting standards. This review and evaluation is carried out by an independent committee (the so-called financial review committee) with extensive experience in the field. For the Kiwanis Club of Palm Beach, this process is extremely important to ensure transparency and assurance that all funds raised will go to a charitable and/or social destination. The same process applies to the administration of membership dues which is a completely separate administration. Kiwanis Club of Palm Beach Aruba would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to all businesses and individuals who in one way or another have made a donation/contribution to the Club.
This year, contrary to tradition during the annual meeting, the work of the committee electing the new board was different. After the committee chairman, FK Roy Mezas, outlined the process the nomination committee had taken to arrive at the nomination team for the 2023-2024 board, as well as the importance of a transparent election, FK Roy Mezas himself had the honor of presenting an additional director nominee. For this reason, the election was divided into two phases: 1) the election of the officers who were approved by acclamation and 2) the election of the directors who were made through a voting system known as vote by ballot.
At the end of the process, the Kiwanis board for the 2023-2024 Kiwanis year will consist of the following officers: Daniel Aguirre (Immediate Past President), Onasito Chito Thiel (President), Ross Brezovar (Incoming President), Michel Frank (Vice President), Michel Janssen (Treasurer), Robert-Jan Moons (Secretary). The following members will be confirmed to the Kiwanis Directors team for the 2023-2024 Kiwanis year: Richard Roy, Alvin Wever, Rodney Kock, Evan Giel, Franklin Hoevertsz, Randolph Ruiz and Christopher Robles.
The evening culminated with the usual brotherhood and camaraderie among the members taking advantage of the evening to once again elaborate and update on important topics related to our community, but especially the welfare of our children.
