Human trafficking and the management carried out by Curacao to prevent it

Eng Human Trafficking And The Management 1

It has been observed that during the past few weeks, Coast Guard personnel and the CCP have searched several boats that have entered our country illegally. On these shuttles, drug and gun gangs have regularly encountered minors. Recently it has been observed that a 5-year-old boy was in one of these boats.

This is a development of concern, especially looking at cases of “child trafficking and trafficking” raising their heads in different parts of the world. Networks that expel children from their countries of origin for the purposes of prostitution and/or illegal work.

Human trafficking is against Human Rights Treaties and punishable by our laws. Governments should do everything possible to prevent Curacao from continuing to be used for such types of practices here. In 2021, Curacao was devalued to TIER 3, from TIP-Report. This means that as a country, we have to pay much more attention to human trafficking and Curacao’s management to prevent it.

Considering this subscribed there are some questions:

What is the government’s policy when a minor enters our country illegally, both by sea and by air?

What is the procedure carried out by the Government to confirm the identity of the child/young person?

How is the shelter  of this child/young person regulated? (for the protection of the child and young person, this question can be answered in the form of for your perusal). How long is the maximum time anchored in the management that a child/young person can stay separated from his/her parent or “guardian”.

If cases of child trafficking are detected, what are the procedures followed?

The ministers will be able to report to the Parliament during the last 3 years, how many investigations have been done on child trafficking, how many cases have been confirmed and brought before the courts of law.
