Four weeks consecutively it is a hit for HNLMS Holland. The Dutch Navy Ship on Tuesday, September 24, for the fifth time intercepted a boat with drugs. A total of 2,285 kilos of drugs were seized and five smugglers were arrested.
In the early morning of Tuesday, September 24, the patrol plane Dash-08 of the Coastguard Caribbean Region spotted a suspicious small boat navigating in the neighborhood of the ABC-islands. HNMLS Holland immediately took action, sent her fast interceptor vessels and forced the drug boat to stop with targeted shots at the engines.
Five drug smugglers were arrested and a total of 1,865 kilograms of cocaine and 420 kilograms of marijuana were seized. The drugs and the suspects have been transferred to the American Coastguard for persecution in the United States.
HNMLS Holland since the beginning of September is active as station ship in the Caribbean Region and during counter drugs operations works alternately together with the American Coastguard as well as with the Coastguard Caribbean Region. Within one month HNMLS has already confiscated more than 7,750 kilograms of drugs.
