Heart-Centered Leadership Foundation (HCLF) announces the second year of its Cure project for Cures that raise awareness among youth and adults aged (13 – 29) about mental health and resilience mental health in Aruba. The goal of this project is to normalize conversations about health. mentally where this process can help equip young people with more knowledge and skills to support their mental resilience.
The first year of the project ran during the 2021 – 2022 school year. HCLF collaborated with 4 secondary school in San Nicolas where they achieved tailored and interactive sessions on the theme of mental resilience in 225 students. HCLF’s programs in this project create a space trustworthy and healthy where young people feel comfortable to talk about aspects of their daily life that affects their mental health in both positive and negative ways. This occurs in groups with other students, which gives young people more confidence to express themselves reduce the taboo of this topic.
To guide and support this process in groups, HCLF has a group of adult volunteers between 18 – 29 years old: Heart-Centered Impact Coaches. HCICs receive training in personal and professionals so that they can have the ability to communicate, stimulate motivation and support young people to connect and talk freely about the topic of mental resilience. by HCLF may continue Cure for Cure project this year, foundation seeks more adult volunteers to help facilitate group conversations with youth on the topic of resilience mentally during their lifetime. Cure for Cure officially restarted in June 2023 and is planned to continue until at least 2021.
May 2024. HCLF will be expanding their partnerships with several new secondary schools and will be organizing public fairs. The goal is to reach 350 young people so they can continue awareness and help young people recognize the importance of mental health and mental resilience.
