Trains in challenging weather conditions
For the Netherlands unit, the exercises in Aruba and Curacao have a very high added value. The climatic circumstances in the Dutch Caribbean region are to be compared with the circumstances in the regions of many mission areas. That is why these exercises give the Army servicemen the opportunity to power trains in similar circumstances. The unit is composed of about 90 military personnel who will house and remain spare parts on the two islands. For the construction activities, 30 (military) construction vehicles and 20 containers will be transported by ship to Curacao. This material had already arrived in Port Curacao. The “Caribbean Engineer” exercise will last until October 19th.
