Bonaire on September 26, 2023, an environmental investigation began in Buenos Aires companies. The research identifies the environmental measures and provisions taken by companies to reduce or eliminate the possibilities of negative effects of environmental pollution. 

The Environmental Inspectors of the Netherlands Environmental Service and the Directorate for Supervision and Law Enforcement carry out this investigation. The research is an update of previous research carried out. 

Rules of Procedure

 Business activities can have consequences for the environment. Think about garbage, warm water, noises or dragging with substances harmful to the twins. To reduce these effects, environmental adjustments are needed. These environmental regulations are formulated in the BES Establishment and Activity Decree (BES – IAB BES). According to expectations, the regulation comes into force on January 1, 2024. There are environmental or medicinal provisions in the regulation. These are for example:

having a grease separation facility in the kitchen to protect the sewer and hot water purification against grease deposits The rules are found in the concept of scope of Establishment and activity BES and are elaborated later in an insular ordinance Decree of Establishment and Activity BES Bonaire.

Environmental research

Environmental research identifies what are the provisions and measures already adopted by companies. This provides a better view of what investments still need to be made to comply with the rules of the BES Establishment and Activity Decree. The investigation will take about 8 weeks in total.
