New House of Representatives will take place on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. The early elections will affect the treatment of budgets for the year 2024 and recessions. For example, from 27 October until Election Day, there will be no debates to give members of the parliaments the opportunity to go on an election campaign. The autumn stress is coming to naught.

The House of parliament in its current composition may decide to deal with specific budget chapters before the elections. During the order of business on Thursday, September 21, the chamber decides on this.
In order to have sufficient time for the general political considerations, the general financial considerations, the 2024 tax plan, the budget debates (if the House decides to do so) and other debates in addition to the election recess, the autumn recess expires. This was scheduled from Friday 13 October to Monday 23 October. Read more in the Bureau’s letter on budget processing and recess planning
Elections on 22 november
On november 22, polling stations are open from 7.30 in the morning until 21.00 in the evening. For Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba the same opening hours apply, but local time. Special polling stations and mobile polling stations may open earlier or later on polling day and close earlier. The Electoral Council announced the exact procedure.
Registration and candidacy
Parties wishing to participate in the elections could register their party name with the Electoral Council until Monday 28 August 2023 at the latest. Monday 9 October is the day of the nomination: on that day the participating parties submit their candidate lists to the Electoral Council.
Resignation cabinet
The early elections have become necessary due to the resignation of the Rutte IV Cabinet on 7 July 2023. Until there is a new cabinet, the current government officials only deal with current affairs. The House of Representatives decides which topics can be dealt with and which cannot be dealt with. They then declare this last Category controversial.
