It must be said that if Pulmantour came to Aruba every week and this was a part that Aruba lost that at this moment feels this impact.
This year in 2023 marks the first time that all destinations around the world will reopen and there are also companies that have disposed of several ships, mainly the old inefficient ships that they scrapped and have fewer ships in operation. All of these points make the impact of the low season felt with fewer boats than normal.
There is also the impact that Mother Earth does not work in favor of the cruising world. In the cruising world there are many changes that have had to take place to protect nature. In the cruise world, Alaska is the preferred route and is very difficult for any destination to compete with. The weather at this time is slightly warmer, so the boats open the season a little earlier and the Alaska season ends a little longer. It usually opens in mid-May, but is already open by the end of April when the ships start moving.
Despite all the turbulence, the APA director believes that the high season on the road will be strong again and that after October we will see the number of boats going up. At the moment Aruba is going to 5 to 8 ships a month or so, but after this it will go up to 37 to 50 ships that will come to Aruba a month again.
The impact of low season and high season is also felt in the infrastructure. On May 30, Aruba had three ships carrying more than 11,600 passengers that sailed to Aruba and this will have a similar impact in November/December.
