The two pedestrians who died in an accident on the Boerengat bridge on Saturday evening, a 74-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel, had attended the World Ports Day in Rotterdam earlier in the evening. The police arrested a 37-year-old man from Nijmegen on Sunday on suspicion of involvement in a fatal accident on Saturday night in Rotterdam. The driver of the van in question continued to drive after the accident. The vehicle was found Saturday night, but the driver was still missing.
The arrested Nijmegenaar is in custody and is being interrogated, reports the police. Further details were not disclosed.
