After several months of preparation the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and the Census team are ready to start Census 23. During the period from 2 September to 20 October the Census will pass through all houses on Corsica to count the inhabitants and dwellings on the island. During this period the surveyors will be active throughout the day to count everyone.
Respondents
During the Census23 period the respondents (+/-750) will go house to house, in the neighborhoods of Corsou to survey people in each household. Each respondent present at a person’s home wears a blue jacket with the Census 23 logo. Each respondent must identify themselves with a badge with their picture and name. The badge is signed by the director. There is also a QR code on the badge, which can be scanned to verify that the respondent is an official CBS respondent. You can also call 839-2300 or 520-2227 to verify. This last one is also Whatsapp number.
Question forms
This time respondents fill out the Census form 23 digitally. The questionnaire is in 4 languages (Papua, Spanish, English and Dutch). It uses the language that the people at the bar prefer. Questions about demographics are answered by everyone in the household, and someone in the family answers questions about drinking.
Facilitate the process
The survey will take approximately 45 minutes. This depends on the size of the household. Of course, it is good for all in the household to contribute fully. What can facilitate the process, is if everyone has some information on hand so that they can answer the questions more quickly. On the Senso23 website there is a checklist that can be used. This is the link https://senso.cbs.cw/cheklist-per-senso-2023.
Anonymous
The census is completely anonymous. The Statistics Act states that all individual information collected in the Census must be confidential. The Law of Statistics is accessible on the CBS website, www.cbs.cw.
Alternative
If the Census 23 respondent passes a house where no residents are present, the respondent will use the alternative of leaving a letter for the resident to pass again. The resident may call to make an appointment at a time that he or she is sure to be present. On the other hand, if someone notices that Census 23 respondents have not yet passed their house, they can contact CBS by e-mail senso@cbs.cw or call 839-2300/520-2227 or send a message via Whatsapp to the latter.
CBS expects every community member to cooperate to make Census 23 a success. That’s why CBS is calling for everyone to make a full contribution, so we know who we are.
