Budget delivered on time
It is the second time in 15 years that a budget of the State of Aruba is delivered on time to the Parliament of Aruba in accordance with article V.12 of our Constitution. This is important as it emphasizes the discipline that all governments must have to provide sufficient space in Parliament to deal with the most important law for the governance of the country, which is the Budget of the country.
A surplus of 70 million
The 2024 budget has a surplus of 70 million florins and this is the second time in many years that the country of Aruba has a budget with a surplus. 2019 was the last time that Aruba experienced a surplus after 12 years of high deficit and debt in the hands of the Cabinet Eman. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, Aruba experienced a deficit due to the pandemic. However, the government has managed to reduce the deficit every year as much as possible and now after 3 years has managed to deliver consecutive budgets with a surplus in the 2023 Budget and the 2024 Budget.
Teamwork for the benefit of Aruba
The Minister of Finance thanked his fellow Cabinet Ministers Wever-Croes and his team for all the work done so that the 2024 Budget could be delivered on time. The President especially thanks the team of the Department of Finance for leading this important work for the benefit of Aruba.
