After submitting the motion to the Aruban Parliament, the Aruban People’s Party (AVP) is pushing for the introduction of a Social Call to Culture The Plan Bureau the same already exists in the Netherlands.
The next step is to carry out a national dialogue and taking this into account a meeting was held this week with the Government Mediator, Mr. Anselmo Pontilius. “A person of his knowledge and experience in national development can make a valuable contribution to this concept, so the leader, Mr. Mike Eman, he’s very grateful.
Accompanied by John Hart and Wendrick in his capacity as a member of the Mito Croes and Digna Lacle Herrera foundations, Eman explains that it is not enough to have a café that does budget calculations, but the dialogue with the Netherlands lacks a broader vision of all the factors that influence the quality of life of our people; what are the opportunities to expand the economy, improve citizen income, how can we guarantee better care for our elderly, how is the issue of aging going to be addressed, etc.
AVP finds it very important to come with a new vision that could bring Aruba back in harmony with the Kingdom. It combines us and for the Netherlands to have a broader vision of what everything affects the quality of life of our people and has an influence on the development of our country and the opportunities that Aruba has. For this reason, there has been a proposal to introduce a Social Culture Plan Bureau together with the Netherlands that conducts studies on all issues that affect the quality of life of citizens and their opportunity for development.
“When the government takes measures, they have a calculation of what the effect is for the citizen. When you come with a BBO to the border, how does the cost for trade impact, how does it affect the purchasing power of the citizen, how does it affect the education of our children. All these issues we see in recent times in which decisions are made with ease, simply based on calculations. It increases the burden on citizens, but does not calculate the impact. It is important that the Netherlands also have in their “retina” the information that a Social Culture The Plan Bureau can bring,” commented the AVP leader.
The AVP delegation concluded the meeting with Anselmo Pontilius very satisfied. In John Hart’s opinion, he highlighted the importance of dialogue since it is something that must continue to elevate the collective way of thinking. “He brings new perspectives and keeps the government and parliament, stakeholders cliffs to keep their eye on what’s important. Figure is important, but also the feeling that is lived in the village,” Hart indicated, so he believes that a Social Culture The Plan Bureau adds a value,” the part of what is welfare. It is not only that a budget must be right, but also the feeling and the needs that are lived in the village,” he added.
For his part, the young candidate Wendrick Cecilia considers it important to deepen the discussion that he is currently carrying out. You hear about a raft, external financial supervision, budget, everything is important terminology in terms of public finances, but important is also the social and economic impact that people are going to face in their daily lives as a result of political decisions. “To create the balance between the financial argument and the economic social impact, Sociaal Culture the Plan Bureau is necessary in this discussion.”, Envatió Wendrick Cicilia. “Not only do we have to see if the financial column is square, but we can also see the impact on the well-being of our people. The balance that this institute is going to create within the priorities that should not be set is very important,” Cecilia concluded. Eman, Hart and Cicilia also envied that this dialogue would be continued by approaching different organizations.
