The Minister of Tourism and Public Health Mr. Dangui Oduber informs the community that the tourism results for the month of August 2023 is available. It was demonstrated once again that in the month of August 2023 the figures exceeded the levels of the same month of the year 2019.

In the month of August Aruba received 106,185 tourists through our airport. A growth of 10.5% compared to the month of August 2019. This is a 107% recovery compared to August 2019 when Aruba received 96,100 visitors. What was highlighted in the report is also the recovery of our most important market, which is the United States, which registered a growth of 13.4% percent compared to August of the year 2019. Tourism continues to grow and continues to exceed the levels of 2019, which are surely exceptional.

You can also see this in the level of occupancy in hotels. It is reflected in the figures of the Average Daily Rate and also the RevPAR. Also in the Tourist Credit of the Central Bank that shows that the tourist is leaving more money behind in our economy. Aruba’s tourism to date each month has registered a recovery of over 100% percent with respect to 2019. All indicators show that by the end of 2023 Aruba is going to have a record year in tourism. The airlines have confidence in Aruba and this is seen in the different new routes we have in different countries.

Cruise Line also demonstrate confidence in Aruba, they foresee great things for Aruba their cruise tourism in the year 2024. There are many confirmed calls and there are going to be new cruise lines that will come to Aruba for the first time. Minister Oduber thanks all the partners in tourism for what makes Aruba today surpassing all the expectations in his recovery. Thanks to the fact that the community has proven to be a resilient one, let’s continue to demonstrate our cordiality and give hopitality to our visitors that we are known for. Tourism is still the main driver of our economy.
