Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) proudly organized different activities to promote and contribute to the United Nations’ (UN) Global SDG Action Week 2024.

This year’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Action Week 2024 theme was Lead the Way in which sustainable leadership for transformative progress includes people, organizations, and companies. During the week of September 19 through September 25, 2024, the UN and its global partners scaled up engagement and action across the world on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

AAA prepared an SDG Action Week 2024 program focusing on strengthening its efforts through collaboration with both local and international partnerships contributing to different SDGs. The week initiated with a presentation by Fundacion Contra Violencia Relacional (FCVR) on Promoting Healthy Relationships – combatting Domestic Violence. The next day included two introduction and awareness training of the Sunflower Hidden Disabilities Program for AAA and Airport Community personnel facilitated by AAA’s Health and Wellness Coordinator in preparation for the official launch in October. As part of World Beach Cleanup Day, a beach cleanup was organized together with Tropical Bottling Company at Grapefield beach, San Nicolas, with a total of 130 participants combined. To conclude the SDG Action Week, the official SDG Flag Hoisting took place on September 25, 2024, on SDG Flag Hoisting Day in the presence of AAA personnel and the airport community.

“AAA continues to promote the UN SDGs within AAA and among the airport community and encourages active participation in activities that positively contribute to these global goals. As this year’s theme was Lead the Way, we strongly believe that by organizing these types of activities and initiatives, and creating partnerships, we are being an exemplary organization to both local and international communities and hope to positively impact and encourage others to do the same”, said Christine Kaarsbaan-Leo, Sustainability & Health Manager of Aruba Airport.
