I don’t know where, but every man and woman should have the Best Dad Ever. “I swear to you, I will not let this day pass. Two fathers give their opinions on Best Dad Ever.
From February 28 to March 28, the last 6 dads participated in the Best Dad Ever project and finished Best Dad Ever with a certificate. Best Dad Ever is a 10-session project where fathers work on their skills to be a better father in the space they’ve just completed. Best Dad Ever encourages men to participate in their children’s education.
A study conducted in Aruba in 2012 showed that the relationship between father and son in Aruba will be poor. This led the Telefón Foundation for Youth Aruba to conduct a more in-depth study in 2016 to gain a better understanding of what fathers think about their role in their children’s education. One of the findings of the study is that fathers want to be more involved in their children’s education. Due to this, the Telefón Foundation for Youth Aruba created Best Dad Ever in 2016 and began implementing Best Dad Ever in 2017.
For 10 sessions, 20 hours, they discussed various topics with the fathers. Some of the topics that are part of the sessions are for example: impact of a father, family planning, caring, violence etc. Other partners who also played a role during some of the sessions were Família Planea, psychologist Meliza Lopez and midwife Michael Quandt.
The six participating fathers ended up with a certificate as a demonstration of their participation in Best Dad Ever and strengthened their skills and added new skills to be even better fathers.
