About 140 members of the Dutch Military from the 102 Construction Company, during the last three weeks were about doing several projects in construction and maintenance on the ABC- islands. The objective of the exercise, named Caribbean Engineer, was to keep the technical (construction) skills up to date. For this purpose, they built, among other things, a lookout tower at Sint Willibrordus on Curaçao, renovated in Bonaire the building of a scouting organization and improved several Military training locations in Aruba.
Most of the activities of the Military this year took place in Curaçao. In nature reserve Hermanus, the engineers built for nature organization Carmabi, a lookout tower, on which visitors can have a better view on flamingo’s present there. At Kolegio Chaya Willems, the metal fencing around the school has been extensively renovated. Moreover the Military on the training grounds of Wacao carried out, amongst other things a residential location, they improved a road and existing buildings were adapted.
On Bonaire a group of Military renovated the building of a local scouting organization. With this repair job, everyone can use a safe and functional building again. On Aruba work has been done on several military training locations. The exercise grounds ‘Vader Piet’ now has a renovated storage location with a new roof. At the Savaneta barracks the exercise village Camp Davis has been improved, the solar panel installation has been repaired and a shade canopy has been created above the CrossFit.
102 Construction Company looks back on the past weeks with satisfaction, during which the Military have developed even more their technical skill, and is happy that literally they were able to contribute with their efforts to the three islands.
