Gustave Nouel (GN) pays an Ode to Rembrandt at the ‘Grote Kerkhof’ square in Deventer

On Sunday, August 25, the Grote Kerkhof square for the second time will be transformed into an art square like Place du Tertre in Montmartre, Paris and other cosmopolitan cities. An art market with paintings, drawings, sculptures, glass objects, graphic work, ceramics, glass art, jewelry, design, with artists, portrait artists, portrait painters and much more. The internationally active portrait painter/draftsman Gustave Nouel (GN) from Aruba will be a special invited guest of ‘Art and Culture at the IJssel’ (https://facebook.com/events/s/kunsthandel-op-het-grote- kerkh/3051791128310485/), sharing his now famous ‘Ode to Rembrandt’ painting performance on the square next to the Lebuïnus Church opposite the Town Hall.
On July 21, at the first edition of this new event, Gustave Nouel (GN) (www.gustavenouel.nl) also gave a performance inspired by a selfportrait of Rembrandt according to universal techniques of top street painters. In his younger years, during and after his academic and post-academic studies, he drew and/or painted portraits among streetartists from all over the world in different countries, as a street painter/draughtsman. In addition to his promotional performance ‘Ode to Rembrandt’, he and some artist friends, including his former students from Kunstcircuit (www.kunstcircuit.nl) and members of the artists’ association DAK, will also surprise the interested public with quick portrait sketches. Works by a number of his students and other artists can be viewed from August 6 in the annual DAK exhibition in the Lebuïnus Church.
