Bonaire welcomed 13,133 stayover visitors during the month of May 2024

Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) has released its
preliminary figures for May 2024, revealing that Bonaire welcomed 13,133 stayover
visitors during the month. This represents an increase of 4% compared to May 2023.
Last year, during the same month, Bonaire welcomed 12,631 stayover visitors. When
compared to the pre-pandemic performance, e.g., in May 2019, Bonaire welcomed a total
of 12,000 visitors. This growth signifies a positive trend in Bonaire’s tourism trajectory.
The number of visitors in 2024 increased by approximately 4% compared to 2023 and by
approximately 9.4% compared to 2019.
Dutch visitors remained the largest group, accounting for 47% of the total, followed by
Americans at 20%. Additionally, visitors from Curaçao accounted for 18% of our visitors;
Canada, Germany, and Aruba also contributed significantly to Bonaire’s tourism
industry.
US visitors visited primarily from New York, Florida, Massachusetts, California, Colorado
and other major states. The age groups with the highest representation were 55-64
(25%) and 45-54 (17%), indicating a strong interest from mature travelers. Dutch visitors
mainly hailed from North Holland, South Holland, and North Brabant, with the dominating
age group being 45-54 (18%) and 55-64 (21%).
Furthermore, Bonaire welcomed 43,567 cruise visitors on a total of 21 cruise ships in
March 2024 and 34,679 cruise visitors on a total of 14 ships in April 2024.
