Since March 2023, admission policy, the “manual for admission” is in full execution

Eng Since March 2023 Admission Policy

Last Monday, during the Government’s press conference, Minister Glenbert Croes addressed a question asked to him regarding the issue of admission. Minister Croes informed that since March 2023, a new admission policy has come into effect, which is “manual for admission” which on his proposal has been approved by the Council of Ministers.

The minister continued explaining that currently at the level of Dimas and DPL, the “manual for admission” is in full implementation and is giving positive signs. He indicated that the road to fix the Dimas service is long, but he is satisfied with the changes in leadership that the department has been making. “The departments falling under my ministry, I will do everything in my reach and all my effort so that the service to the community is fixed, starting from the moment the client enters the department, providing mutual respect,” said Minister Croes.

The changes in the “manual for admission”contain a lot of changes. But the minister simply gave two examples during the press conference: previously, when a person applies for a permit for the first time, he will have to wait abroad for this. With the new policy, you can wait for this in Aruba. The multi-annual permits were already in the law since 2018, but were not applied. It is currently in full implementation. Just two examples that the minister gave during the press conference.

It is also important to say that the new admissions policy came into effect in March 2023, it is not the final version and that the change is underway – and the adaptations that must be made for this process to be an effective one. Seeing that these changes do not require law changes, it is evaluated every 3 to 6 months how to improve the process. The intention of the “manual for admission” is that it is a path that gives value and respect to human dignity. If a person is legal, his permit will be renewed without any problem and in full transparency. If the person is illegal, he will fall under the integration policy, in which if a company is willing to sign for him, after several evaluations, there will be a possibility that he will enter the labor market. Upon entering the labor market, you will pay your taxes and premiums thus contributing to the economy of Aruba. In addition, with this policy the informal economy in the labor market is combatted.
