The Prime Minister, Mr. Gilmar Pisas, together with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn, Minister of Justice Mr. Shalten Hato, Minister of Governance management, Planning and Public Services Mr. Ornelio Martina and the SDG coordination team, raised the SDG Flag in Fort Amsterdam, regarding the week and Day of the SDG, September 25, 2023.

The other ministers of the Pisas II Cabinet could not be present due to other work commitments (e.o. also abroad) that required their presentation.

Throughout the week there will be various actions, awareness raising and highlighting on the objections of each of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

The main objectives are that throughout the week we can achieve:

Increase engagement, aim to involve the entire spectrum of society, including the private sector; Align all sectors and NGOs with three of the five pillars of sustainable development: Man, Planet and Prosperity; To create awareness in our community for the SDG objectives, emphasizing the 2030 Agenda of Curacao and its implementation. Awareness would be the first step towards meaningful action; To share local and regional best practices and global knowledge, in order to be able to implement the SDG objectives effectively in the local agenda.

After the SDG Flag-raising activity, the prime minister was a keynote speaker at the Virtual Islands Summit, which is an event that has been at the forefront of connecting Islands around the world for 5 years and has approximately 10,000 participants during this webinar. The innovation of the organizing island was extremely unhappy with the Prime Minister Mr. Gilmar Pisas could have been “live” on this webinar. The Prime Minister, Mr. The message of Pisas implied sustainable development, resilience and collaboration which are essential for us to achieve the 2030 Global Goals.

He also points out that the Islands are not passive victims, but searches for solutions. The Islands are moving forward to achieve the 2030 global goals.
