Governor of Corsica, Mrs. L.A., George-Wout, paid his respects to Z.M. King Willem Alexander presented the studio recording of the waltz Sunsets to Princess Amalia on behalf of the people of Corsica. This applies both to a recording of the orchestral performance and to a piano performance. The governor did so at the request of his daughter, Her Royal Highness the Princess of Orange, Amalia.
During the visit of the royal family to Corsica last February, the piece was performed live and presented as a national gift of Corsica to the Princess of Orange on the occasion of her introduction to Corsica. The score was also delivered at that time.
Corsou has a long tradition of composing dance music in honor of special occasions. King William III was the first member of the royal family to receive a Corsican composition. When Princess Beatrix presented at Curaçao, she received the Bella Trix waltz.
The waltz Sunsets for Princess Amalia was composed by John Nathan Suarez. Mr. Suarez is a music teacher at the music school of the Cultural Center of Curaçao. The title of the waltz refers to the good relations between Curaçao and the Netherlands in the kingdom, in a modern solidarity, with satisfaction for what has been achieved and with hope looking forward to what is to come.
The orchestral version presented by the governor was recently recorded and edited in Corsou and was created with the cooperation of local musicians and sound technicians. This is unique; productions of this magnitude are not normally realized on the island but in the outdoors.
