The case of the insurance company ENNIA is of concern to us all. Both for the group of more than 25 thousand pensioners and for our financial sector. The Central Bank is in court to recover funds that were unusually withdrawn from ENNIA. A cut in the pension of pensioners is certainly not desirable given the negative socio-economic effect this has on family households.
In the same breath the Government of Curaçao is working to raise funds for ENNIA. The Kingdom’s Council of Ministers has approved a bond of 1.2 billion florins for among others the capitalist Compania ENNIA. The MAN faction took note of the contents of the letter sent by the Prime Minister on July 24, 2023. For the Dutch Minister of Finance see. S. Kaag and Secretary of State sr. A. Van Huffelen was born in Vienna, Austria. The content indicates the concern but also the possible consequence of the trust that Capitalist ENNIA wants to make.
On the other hand we have noted the two letters from CFT where they give their advice on the situation of ENNIA and the trust they want to make. In a democratic country, the Parliament should be involved in a substantial bond of 1.2 billion Prome signed with the Netherlands. It is a misuse of the Statute to use a mutual agreement between governments, thus sidelining the Parliament of the Republic. It’s a shame that in the Tweede Kamer we are discussing a Bill that directly concerns our community, but our Parliament is not informed what the Proportion of the mainline is.
Considering the repercussions that the case of ENNIA has for our country and the concern that lives in our Community where more than 25 thousand pensioners could be endangered. We have requested an URGENCY for a public meeting of Parliament. The meeting request was supported by the PAR faction and Work for Curaçao. For this meeting we would like the presence of Minister of General Affairs/Minister President Mr. G. Pisas and Finance Minister Mr. J. Silvania. The MAN faction hopes that the President will convene the meeting as soon as possible so that the people of Curacao and the pensioners of ENNIA will get clarity and understanding from the Government as to the concrete action that will be taken.
