Yesterday a sad incident took place near Tres Trapi in Aruba. A young green turtle was found dead at the bottom of the lake with a broken skull indicating that it had been killed by a propeller attack. No one wants such an accident.
The risks can be reduced considerably by creating an extended save area for snorkelers (and turtles). People in boats must respect the zone of swimming. Outside the zone the person can keep a clear view, slow down and use a propeller shield. Hopefully, our authorities will cooperate on safer rules that will benefit the area where snorkelers and sea turtles also pass.
