The 46th edition of the World Ports Days in Rotterdam is almost over. The biggest annual maritime event in the Netherlands had a successful weekend. In all, some 400,000 visitors enjoyed all that the port of Rotterdam has to offer.
After the youth day with thousands of visitors on Friday, the Saturday of the World Harbour Days had a foggy start, with a brief delay in the start of the shows on the water. But after the sun broke through, tens of thousands of people found their way to the event site, crowded to capacity during the various highlights of the program.
The evening show ‘Lights for Sophia’ was held to honour the staff and sick children of the Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s Hospital, who will join the beautifully illuminated boat parade. After a performance by singer Emma Heesters, the evening show ended with spectacular fireworks.
On the final Sunday, visitors were also able to find their way to the World Harbour Days for the excursion programme, activities on the quay and shows on the water. On Sunday at 6:00 p.m. all activities are closed.
An estimated 400,000 people attended the three-day event. The next edition of the World Ports Days will take place on 6, 7 and 8 September 2024,
