On Saturday, September 2, 2023, at around 12:08 p.m., the Police Headquarter received information of a robbery taking place in a jewelry store in Breedestraat Punda.
The Police Headquarter immediately directed the Punda unit to the siege. Upon arriving, he met a man lying on the street with a wound into his face, while a scooter was also lying down in the middle of the road.
A police investigation of the siege revealed that a short time earlier a man had broken into the jewelry store and threatened to smash the windows and take the jewels. Outside the camp, another man on a scooter was waiting for the bandit.
Just as they were about to flee, a citizen oppposed the escape by catching the suspect sitting in the back of the scooter, with the result that both lost their balance and fell with the loot in their possession.
Neighbors surrounded the suspect sitting in the back and prevented him from running away. The unit that arrived in the meantime, made the arrest of the 33-year-old male suspect D.A.M.C. born in Colombia. Due to the injuries he received including to his face, he was transported by ambulance to the C.M.C. for medical treatment.
The other suspect W.F.A.S. a 53-year-old man born in the Dominican Republic attempted to flee on foot, but was soon detained in Hanchi Snoa and taken to the police station.
The loot was handed over to the business owner while the scooter was confiscated. When the two men had stood before the proconsul, he ordered them, imprisonment pending further investigation.
